Dr. Nehal Ghevariya is a board certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine, Preventive care and management of complex disease conditions. Dr. Ghevariya was ranked “Top three” in her state during the college and was awarded prestigious “National Scholarships Scheme” granted by the Government of India, a merit achievable by only 40,000 among close to 20 million students graduating in Indian colleges each year. As a result, she received invitation to enroll into Government Medical School. Her performance in the medical school remained exemplary during all five years with scores in top 5% of her class.
After completing one-year practice of Medicine and Surgery in India, she moved to New York City and joined Weill Cornell School of Medicine to concentrate on practice of Internal Medicine. She spent three years as a house staff resident physician at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Brooklyn, NY. This is a 450-bed acute care center serving a large population of borough of Brooklyn. Practicing in one of the most ethnically diverse areas of United States provided her with an opportunity to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
In 2013, she was awarded with honorable position of “Chief Medical Resident”. She worked closely with administration and overseen training of about 300 medical students and trainees. During this period, she focused her attention to Preventive Social Medicine, Screening procedures and minimizing complications of advanced diseases. She led numerous Performance Improvement Projects and formulated formal recommendations on management of complex diseases such as High blood pressure, high cholesterol and lipids, and Diabetes. The daunting task of educating trainees by the mean of clinical demonstration of procedures, lecture series, preparation for certifying examinations etc. further honed her clinical and academic skills.
